gallery I

In my personal approach to painting, I use acrylic and plaster as a painting medium for its physical nature. This allows me to build a complex, textured surface, sanding and scraping through the layers reveals evidence of previous passages. There is an interaction between random and intended actions. It is important to me that painting be a process of discovery, allowing for elements of chance that leave an opening for unexpected possibilities. Time is a constantly recurring influence both concretely and metaphorically as order evolves out of disorder, weaving the past with the present, realistic elements and abstraction, surface and depth, the timeless and the fleeting.
